My Adventures in India and Nepal are quickly drawing to a close. I’ve returned to Delhi from Nepal and have a bit of time before I need to head back to Delhi International Airport for my flight back to New York.
Travel is full of questions, possibilities, choices and decisions. The question facing me at the moment is how to spend my remaining hours in India. One possibility would be to take a brisk, brief visit back into the main center of Delhi for a last encounter with India. I have really considered this. A final touch of India so to speak.
Interestingly, after due consideration, I find that I have decided against that final Indian experience. I’ve been here for roughly three weeks now and have already had countless memorable Indian experiences. Honestly, at the moment they tend to blur together a bit. It will take some time to reflect on and put all of those experiences in some type of perspective. It seems that relatively little would be gained by adding one more brief, hectic experience to the memory bank.
Beyond my already full load of Indian and Nepali memories, I also find that with my departure from Nepal I began to enter into the Return Home phase of my journey. Sorting and packing items in my luggage for the international flights. Starting to sort and reflect on my journey. Anticipating the pleasures of a return home. I guess I am in Return Mode. A final assault on Delhi holds little appeal at the moment.
So – how will I be spending my final moments in India? Well – reflecting, resting, and writing with possibly some preliminary reviewing of photos thrown in for good measure. Fortunately I have a wonderful setting for this undertaking. I’m currently writing this article under my own cabanna which you can see below.
There is a delightful cool breeze and the cabana has a wonderful relaxing view.
It’s currently 10:00 AM and I have the area entirely to myself. Later, I will probably have to take a swim in the pool.
Actually, I think this will be a fine way to wind down and relax a bit. It should help me with the transition from the culture and experiences of India back to my the culture of the Heartland of the U.S. And just possibly, it will also help prepare me for the joys associated with fifteen hours of international air travel in coach class.
Enjoy the Adventure!
