Metro Bistro lies in the heart of Madrid, a very short stroll from Plaza Mayor. It’s a small restaurant, unassuming from the street, but they offer fine quality dining with a very creative menu.
Start with some bread sticks, interestingly seasoned butter, and a celery mojito. Yes, that’s right – a celery mojito. Not bad actually.
Some very tasty humus along with Croquetas Artesanales moves the meal into more serious territory.
The small restaurant is divided into two dining areas. In the front, dining is a bit more casual, fronted with windows on the street and near the well appointed bar. The area in the rear of the restaurant is a bit more formal but comfortably so.
Gigot de cordero (lamb, truffles, and creamy potatoes) was a good choice for a main dish.
But perhaps the best dish of the evening was the scallops and black rice with a lovely sauce.
The fine meal at Metro Bistro was rounded out with a bit of sweet – pineapple cannelloni with half frozen yogurt and mango sauce.
Metro Bistro Madrid has a nice contemporary, yet casual vibe. The food is creative, tasty and offered with eye appealing presentations. When visiting Madrid you will surely spend some time in Plaza Mayor. While there you can eat at one of the many restaurants which fill the Plaza with outdoor dining venues and have some of the standard tourist fare. Or, as an alternative, you might consider catching a very interesting meal at Metro Bistro.
