Exploring Iceland – The Adventure

If you want waterfalls, landscapes, Puffins, ice formations, architecture; then put Iceland on your bucket list. It’s a great destination for everyone, especially photographers.  And it’s not as far away as it may sound.  From my home in Kansas City it is a mere 3321 miles. For you – perhaps closer or further.

A Few Tips For The Traveling Photographers

Iceland P1

  • Go with your photo buddies. You will need to hit it and get it! BTW that is me, second from the left.

  • Hire a guide and a photo professional who make all the reservations and know all the secret handshakes and can teach you the camera tricks you always wanted to know. They would look like Reed Hoffman and Einar Ólafur Matthíasson.

  • There are waterfalls everywhere.  A large part of the island is a glacier.

  • Here is the Gullfoss Waterfall.  Besides its beauty you may notice there are no ropes, warning signs or Park Rangers.  Proceed at your own risk, slippery when wet, ooooops!

  • If you like Iceland Ponies you will love these guys

They will not let you take one home for a pet.

  • If you want to photograph Puffins then be sure to go during a time when they are there – we went in early July. This is where your guide will earn his money – they know the “where and when”.

  • With glaciers come ice formations and unique inlets
