Yosemite National Park – A National Park Gem
Welcome to Flashback Friday – Where we share previously published articles which were reader favorites. Hope you enjoy this Friday’s article, originally published in 2013.

Yosemite National Park, established in 1894, covers approximately 1,200 square miles in the Sierra Nevada Range of West Central California. Truly a gem in the National Park System, it is perhaps the most popular National Park in North America. I visited in September as part of a Road Trip throughout the Western and Southwestern United States. (For other related articles on the Road Trip you might enjoy Road Trip and National Park Closures and North Rim by iPhone).
I should warn you, Yosemite is an extremely popular destination for visitors. If you plan a visit you should probably give serious consideration to making reservations for hotel or camping space. Some camping is unreserved but those spots go quickly in peak season. You can get lots of relevant information on the Yosemite Web Site –

There’s lots to see and do in Yosemite – hiking, climbing, photography, cycling, camping. I did a bit of all of these and let me tell you – I only scratched the surface of all that Yosemite has to offer. Of course, I took a few photos. Well, Okay – I took a few thousand? Anyway – here are a few that will give you a sense of some of what Yosemite has to offer.
