{Note: In 2015 Nepal and the City of Kathmandu were hit by a major earthquake which caused significant harm and destruction. Considerable rebuilding has taken place but it is still a work in process.}

Nestled in Kathmandu Valley of Nepal, the City of Kathmandu is a hustling and bustling community full of Hindus, Buddhists, Trekkers, Mountain Climbers and, yes, Tourists. It’s a short, one hour flight from Varanasi, India or one hour forty minutes from Dehli to Kathmandu. The city, at an elevation of 4,600 feet, sits at the base of the Himilaya Mountains and is a first jumping off point for trekkers as well as mountain climbing expeditions heading for Mt. Everest. It’s a colorful, busy, and picturesque place. For photographers it is a visual feast. I took the photos here in my first hour in the city. So break out your cameras and enjoy the views.
Get the picture? Lots to see and do and and explore in Kathmandu!
