Valencia City of Arts and Sciences By Night

A Photo Essay

Valencia Day Architecture 4
L’Hemisferic and El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia buildings in The City of Arts and Science.

The City of Arts and Science in Valencia, Spain is sometimes overlooked by visitors to the region.  But to miss this location would be a mistake.  Previously I’ve written about the area and shared a number of daytime photos of the dynamic architecture that make the City of Arts and Science such a noteworthy site to visit for travelers and especially for photographers (Click here for Previous City of Arts and Science Article.)

If you do spend part of a day visiting the City of Arts and Science be sure to consider a return at night.  The spectacular structures with their unique architecture are illuminated in a striking manner.   Photographers – bring your tripods and enjoy yourselves.

L’Hemisferic ( planetarium) and El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia (opera and performing arts center) buildings at sunset.  The view and setting offer great opportunities for the photographer.  In the image below you see my camera set up on a tripod to capture the image with the scene visible in the view finding LCD screen.

Valencia night 2

The moon and support structure for the Assut D’or Bridge are reflected in the waters separating the El Museu de les Ciencies Principe Felipe on the left and L’Umbracle  on the right.

Valencia night 3

Looking somewhat like a Spanish incarnation of The Starship Enterprise, the El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia has an otherworldly quality when viewed against the darkening night sky.
