Any visit to Thailand, a predominantly Buddhist country, involves visits to many Buddhist stupas, temples and monestaries. Chiang Mai has over 300 Buddhist temples and each is beautiful and unique in it’s own way. One of the best known temples in Chiang Mai is Wat Phra Singh.

Located within the moated and walled old city, Wat Phra Singh is a lively and active temple. Travelers tend to visit Wat Phra Singh during the day time and for sure, there is much to see. But if you can, I really recommend that you return in the evening. Wat Phra Singh literally “lights up” after dark.. The rich colors and tones of the various buildings and stupas are gorgeous. Be sure to bring your camera and tripod!

Wat Phra Singh is my favorite temple in Chiang Mai. I find myself returning time and time again. My favorite time to visit is in the evening. If ever you find yourself in Chiang Mai I hope you will get the opportunity to visit this very special place.
